Wall House #2 – Groningen
Das Wall House #2 in Groningen wurde 1973 vom amerikanischen Architekten John Hejduk entworfen und erst 2001 postum realisiert. Als einzig gebautes Haus seiner legendären Wall-House-Serie gilt es heute als Ikone der experimentellen Architektur.
Im Mittelpunkt des Entwurfs steht eine massive Wand, die nicht trennt, sondern den Raum organisiert. Architektur wird hier nicht als statisches Objekt verstanden, sondern als Abfolge von Räumen, Blicken und Bewegungen. Das Gebäude untersucht die Beziehung zwischen Raum, Zeit und Wahrnehmung und verändert seine Wirkung mit jedem Standpunkt.
Ich habe das Wall House #2 im Jahr 2023 fotografiert. Die Aufnahmen entstanden an einem Tag, die Entwicklung der Bilder jedoch über einen deutlich längeren Zeitraum. Es brauchte Zeit, aus der fotografischen Annäherung eine klare visuelle Haltung zu entwickeln.
Als Architekt nähere ich mich der Fotografie aus derselben Neugier, die auch meine Arbeit prägt. In meinen Bildern versuche ich, Architektur auf ihre wesentlichen Elemente zu reduzieren und gleichzeitig ihre Atmosphäre und Wirkung erfahrbar zu machen.

Wall House #2 in Groningen was designed in 1973 by the American architect John Hejduk and was not built until 2001, posthumously. As the only house to have been built from his legendary Wall House series, it is now regarded as an icon of experimental architecture.
At the heart of the design is a massive wall that does not divide, but organises the space. Architecture is understood here not as a static object, but as a sequence of spaces, views and movements. The building explores the relationship between space, time and perception, and changes its effect from every vantage point.
I photographed Wall House #2 in 2023. The photographs were taken in a single day, but the development of the images took place over a much longer period. It took time to develop a clear visual approach from the photographic perspective.
As an architect, I approach photography with the same curiosity that shapes my work. In my images, I attempt to reduce architecture to its essential elements whilst simultaneously making its atmosphere and impact tangible.

La Wall House #2 a Groninga è stata progettata nel 1973 dall’architetto americano John Hejduk e realizzata solo nel 2001, a titolo postumo. Essendo l’unica casa costruita della sua leggendaria serie Wall House, è oggi considerata un’icona dell’architettura sperimentale.
Al centro del progetto c'è una parete massiccia che non separa, ma organizza lo spazio. L'architettura qui non è intesa come oggetto statico, ma come una sequenza di spazi, sguardi e movimenti. L'edificio esplora il rapporto tra spazio, tempo e percezione e cambia il suo effetto a seconda del punto di vista.
Ho fotografato la Wall House #2 nel 2023. Gli scatti sono stati realizzati in un solo giorno, ma lo sviluppo delle immagini ha richiesto un periodo di tempo molto più lungo. Ci è voluto del tempo per sviluppare un chiaro approccio visivo a partire dall'approccio fotografico.
Come architetto, mi avvicino alla fotografia con la stessa curiosità che caratterizza il mio lavoro. Nelle mie immagini cerco di ridurre l'architettura ai suoi elementi essenziali e, allo stesso tempo, di rendere tangibili la sua atmosfera e il suo effetto.
